Ramblings

So, lately I have been too busy to blog. This last term of school kicked my butt. Thought I failed a class, but received a C. I just couldn't devote the time needed in my Auditing class to get my normal A. Oh well.
I finished reading The Hour I First Believed by Wally Lamb. It lived up to my expectation of gut wrenching emotional rollercoaster. I also finished reading The Early Asimov short story collection, Harvest Hunting by Yasmine Galenorn, and the stealth project I was working on. Still need to write the review for the stealth project. I have the hardest time writing reviews.
I have also been catching up on my movie watching. Recently finished watching The Witchblade, The Last Airbender, and Shutter Island. All really good.
Getting ready to buy the yarn to make the Intolerable Cruelty skirt and the Spoke sweater for Alyssa. Both patterns are found at knitty.com. I am also getting the yarn to make an afghan for myself.
I have one more week before classes start up again. I hope to get 7 more books read, the afghan completed, and the skirt half way done. I will be posting progress pictures.
More later!

So much has happened since my last post. I finished Baby Blues. Didn't remember to take pictures of the finished blanket, though. Next time, because the student that requested the blanket and hat needs me to make another set. I am going to do the same pattern but in green.

Next thing to know is that I went to Texas to visit my roommate's and my families. I love Jen's family. My family, however, is problematic. It was great seeing them, but I don't know if I ever will again. I have decided that since I can't live up to their standards and expectations, I am not even going to try. From now on I will live my life my way.

On that note, check out my friend Tena's post on Vampire Awareness Month. Here is the link:

She always has the most insightful things to say. You can also check out her articles at examiner.com. You can find her under Lexington Vampire Examiner; Paranormal Examiner; and Cultural Events Examiner.

On other notes. I just finished reading Bone Magic by Yasmine Galenorn. Two more books and I will have read all of them in this series. This series is about three sisters from Otherworld. Each book shows the story from one of the sisters view point. If you want to know more check out Yasmine's website at www.galenorn.com/ .

Now I really must go. I have a research paper to write my tomorrow's class.

Baby Blues

Today I got up with every intention of doing all the things that I needed to do. I am working on a stealth reading project and I have until Monday to finish it. It is a really good book and I am on the second chapter. I am going to read a little bit more tonight and then all day tomorrow, so that I can have the review done.

On the knitting side, I ripped out a baby blanket I was working on. It was beautiful too, but I couldn't figure out what row I was on. So I casted on for a new blanket. I am using size 11 circular needles and Bernat One Pound yarn, worsted weight, in blue. It shouldn't take me more than a week to finish it.

Eventually I will take pictures that you can actually see. Anyway here are two pictures of The Baby Blues. Don't have any one to give it to for now.
Movies.... I watched Julie/Julia this evening and it was wonderful. I did spend a big portion of the movie being hungry, but what can you expect with all that wonderful food. If you haven't seen it, I recommend it. It is a true story based on a woman named Julie who starts a blog about cooking all 524 recipes from Julia Child's book Mastering the Art of French Cooking, in 365 days. It was inspiring.

First Day

This blog is going to be about a lot of things. I am going to blog about my knitting, the books that I read, and the movies I watch. I might even throw in something about music. My interests are wide and varied. So there will be a little something for everyone.
